Litter training
Your ferret may end up just going to toilet where ever they feel like, unless you tell them otherwise. First of all you’ll want to get your ferret a litter tray and then get them to start toileting in it. This allows you to clear allow the ferret mess and give it a proper clean rather than having to scrub out the corner of a cage. Also you can always replace the tray a lot easier than you can replace their entire cage. This type of ferret training is really important for the health and cleanness of your ferret and is well worth the time.

Train not to bite
You own a ferret so I’m presuming you will want to cuddle and pet them? Well you want want to do that if they constantly nip and bite you, your family and friends. So you will want to be firm and if they nip you, shrug them by holding them by the back of their neck fur and tell them with a strong verbal command ‘NO!’ immediately. Raise your voice and be stern. Then once they are calmer continue to play. Ferret training is all about being consistent.
Fetch
Getting a ferret to ‘Go fetch’ can be fun for you both. First of all don’t use something edible like a treat as your ferret may just run after it and gobble it up. So use a little toy that they are interested in and toss it over their heads. When they run and grab it really encourgae them to bvring it back, call their name and gesture them over. Whether they come back or not tease the toy off them and re-toss it. If they do bring it back or bring it near you really praise and tickle them, which is a basic of good ferret training.
Use a leash
Going for a walk on is a fairly simple one. Encourage them to walk around the house in one first of all. Put their harness on and let them go about their business. Then attach their lead and walk them around, using treats and toys to get them going. Once they’re comfortable walking in the house take them out.
You can also do ferret training to teach your ferret to use water bottle, roll over, and do tricks. Ferret training is something that you get better and better at. In a way when you first begin to train your ferret you’ll often need to train yourself in the art of consistent, loving, reward or punishment. Rewarding your ferret may mean a tickle or treat, whilst punishment may involve a gentle tap on the bum or removal of an object.
